About Dr. Davidson

Heather Davidson, Psy.D, BCN, is a New York State and Virginia State licensed psychologist with specialized training in child and adolescent treatment, perinatal psychology and board certification in neurofeedback. She also is a published author of a CBT workbook for children with anxiety. Her main areas of clinical expertise include ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety, and OCD. She is also extensively trained in neuropsychological assessment and utilizes a unique approach by combining traditional psychological testing measures with qEEG (a non-invasive brain scan). Although she specializes in child psychology, she works with patients of all ages, specifically with biofeedback, neurofeedback and Virtual Reality Therapy. Dr. Davidson is passionate about research and is currently the co-Principal Investigator in FDA psychiatric research looking at the effectiveness of combined medication management.

Education & Experience

Dr. Heather Davidson received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from West Virginia University and both her Masters of Arts and Doctoral degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She also holds certifications from Columbia University in suicide assessment and The Albert Ellis Institute in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT).

Previous to her practice in New York and Virginia, Dr. Davidson worked in psychiatric hospitals, community mental health facilities, and spent time abroad in a Peruvian medical orphanage implementing psychiatric interventions to the children, as well as creating and implementing a psychiatric training program available to incoming volunteers and long-term staff members. Her previous work in the New York community entailed home therapy services for underprivileged and at-risk youth utilizing Trauma-Focused CBT as well as the Partners in Parenting program geared towards parent management training.

Founder of the Children's Center

Dr. Davidson is the Director of Child and Adolescent Services and the Director of Clinical Training at Behavioral Associates. She created both the postdoctoral fellowship and doctoral externship program and continues to supervise psychology students at various levels on the implementation of CBT, neurofeedback, biofeedback, virtual reality exposure therapy, and neuropsychological assessment. 

Speaker at Conferences, Universities and in the Community

Dr. Davidson has also been also been an avid member of the neurotherapy community. She is one of the youngest speakers at several annual conferences including the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the Northeast Region Biofeedback Society (NRBS), and the Midwest Society for Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback (MSBMB). Dr. Davidson speaks at local lower and upper schools across Manhattan and is a consistent speaker at Columbia University. She is also currently a visiting professor at the Child Mind Institute and has made several media appearances in the news providing her professional opinion on current events and illustrating physical and neurological state change through mindfulness.
